Audio Guide: The Seven Best Book Podcasts, by Aubrey Nevkinda

Looking to spice up your literary life without actually…picking up a book? Enter, book podcasts.

Whether you’re commuting, working out, or just lounging, these podcasts are like having your coolest book-smart friends with you wherever you go.

Book podcasts can turn any mundane moment into a book club meeting. So, grab your headphones, and let’s get lost in the stacks from the comfort of our earbuds.

Warning: these podcasts may lead to spontaneous book buying!

Books N’ Betches

This is not your grandma's book club — Books N' Betches is here to spill the tea on all the latest reads with no filter. It’s giving sass and laughs mixed with some serious book discussions.

I liked that all the women are at different levels with their reading: one reads 150 books a year, another reads 50, and one reads 25. They also all enjoy different genres, so their literary discussions outside of the book they’re reading each episode are diverse and interesting.

You’re Booked

Ever wondered what your favorite authors are really reading in their downtime? We have just the podcast for you.

The host, “Daisy Buchanan,” considers herself a “book inspector” and uses her podcast to interview authors. She is an excellent interviewer who manages to bring in some really impressive authors to interview. Plus, she has the perfect voice (and British accent!) for podcasts.

She interviews authors like Taylor Jenkins Reid, Sophia Kinsella, and Marian Keyes. Her very first episode ever is an interview with the queen of memoirs, Dolly Alderton. Honestly, I am dying to know how she books this talent, but I’m not complaining.

I’ll Read What She’s Reading

I’ll Read What She’s Reading clues you in on what's hot in the literary world. It feels like hanging out with your most insightful, funniest friends, discussing all the best reads.

The hosts Reggie, Kennedy, & Mikayla are all so fun to listen to. Each month, they have a monthly book club with books like Bride by Ali Hazelwood and The Seven Year Slip by Ashley Poston.

They talk about everything, from Smash or Pass with their favorite book characters to serious discussions about recent releases. They’re all fun and hip and make me feel cooler every time I listen.

Books Unbound

Books Unbound is hosted by an endlessly funny duo who eat, sleep, and breathe books. Say goodbye to traditional book reviews; with Ariel and Raeleen, it's all about diving deep into the quirky details.

Whether they’re debating classic versus contemporary or discussing their recent reads, the hosts' infectious enthusiasm for books will have you seriously considering increasing your book budget.

The Shameless Book Club

Hosted by a squad of smart and funny women, the Shameless Book Club breaks all the stuffy rules of traditional literary discussions. And a special bonus? Almost all of them have a fun Australian accent.

In each episode, they tackle everything from sultry romances to taboo tales, all while keeping it real with cheeky Aussie humor. Recently, they interviewed Emily Henry about her new book, and asked her all about her process and recent reads. They also review books like Tom Lake by Ann Patchett and Good Material by Dolly Alderton. Plus, they have an entire episode devoted to everyone’s favorite literary star slash scammer Caroline Calloway.

Celebrity Memoir Book Club

Hosted by two pop culture savants with a knack for witty banter, Celebrity Memoir Book Club unpacks the juiciest autobiographies penned by the stars themselves. I’ve been seeing their content on TikTok and Instagram for ages now, and I’m officially hooked on their podcast.

If you love celebrity memoirs, there is no better podcast to listen to. Think of it as book club meets gossip column, with your most entertaining friends dishing out the commentary.

The Readheads Book Club

Created by a lively group of self-proclaimed "redheads" (some by actual hair color and some in spirit), this podcast dives into a new book each episode. Hosted by The Morning Toast's Jackie Oshry and her best friends, the conversations are as colorful as the hosts themselves.

Their enthusiasm for literature is infectious, plus, their inclusive attitude makes everyone, redhead or not, feel like part of the family.

Ready, set, listen!

For those who are on the go or simply prefer audio, lit podcasts are a unique way to engage with books. It’s the best way to find new books, and kill time while you wait for your library holds to become available.

Your next literary adventure is just a play button away; happy listening!
